Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how CastLink handles information when you use the CastLink website, CastLink mobile applications on iOS and Android, and related CastLink services (collectively, the “Service”).

1. Information CastLink Collects

CastLink is designed to minimize collection of personal information.

• Search input: when you search for performers, movies, or TV shows, your search terms are processed to return results.
• Shared content: if you choose to use a share feature, the information you select is shared only through the method and recipient you choose.
• Technical information: standard technical information such as IP address, browser or device information, request timestamps, and basic security or diagnostic information may be processed automatically by CastLink's hosting, platform, or API providers as part of operating and protecting the Service.
• Support communications: if you contact CastLink directly, CastLink may receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address and the contents of your message.

CastLink does not require user accounts, does not use advertising trackers, does not include third-party analytics SDKs, and does not collect personal information for behavioral advertising or profiling.

2. How Information Is Used

CastLink uses limited information only as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, and protect the Service, including to:

• process searches and return results,
• display performer, movie, and TV information,
• calculate connection paths and shared credits,
• provide sharing functionality when you choose to use it,
• respond to support or privacy inquiries, and
• maintain the reliability and security of the Service.

CastLink does not sell personal information.

3. Performer Information and Entertainment Data

CastLink is an entertainment discovery service, not a casting service or performer-submission platform. Performers do not need to create profiles with CastLink and CastLink does not ask performers to submit headshots, resumes, self-tapes, voice recordings, biometric information, financial information, or other private performer materials.

Performer names, credits, images, and related movie and television metadata displayed through CastLink are obtained through the TMDB (The Movie Database) API. CastLink uses this information to help users explore performers, productions, shared credits, and connections between people and titles.

CastLink does not claim to represent, endorse, or speak on behalf of any performer, union, guild, production, studio, or casting organization.

If you are a performer or authorized representative and believe information displayed about you is inaccurate or raises a privacy concern, contact Support@CastLink.app. Because the underlying entertainment metadata is supplied by TMDB, some corrections may also need to be made through TMDB, but CastLink will review reasonable concerns relating to information displayed through the Service.

4. Artificial Intelligence and Performer Data

CastLink does not use performer names, images, likenesses, voices, credits, or other performer information displayed through the Service to train or fine-tune generative artificial intelligence models. CastLink also does not sell or license performer information or performer media to third parties for generative-AI training, voice cloning, digital-replica creation, or synthetic-likeness generation.

CastLink may use ordinary software algorithms to search entertainment data, calculate connections, rank results, or operate Service features. These functions are used to provide CastLink's entertainment discovery features and are not intended to create digital replicas of performers.

5. Third-Party Services and Content

CastLink uses data provided through the TMDB (The Movie Database) API to return movie, television, cast, and performer information. Requests may necessarily involve technical data such as IP address, device or browser information, and request timing being processed by the services involved in delivering the request, as with most internet-based services.

Third-party providers process information according to their own terms and privacy practices. CastLink encourages users to review those policies where appropriate.

6. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

CastLink currently does not use:

• third-party analytics SDKs,
• advertising SDKs,
• cross-app tracking technologies, or
• behavioral advertising tools.

If these practices materially change, this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect the new practices.

7. Data Sharing

CastLink does not share personal information with data brokers or advertisers. Information may be disclosed only in limited circumstances, including:

• to hosting, infrastructure, security, or API providers needed to operate the Service,
• when you intentionally use CastLink's sharing functionality,
• when necessary to investigate abuse, security incidents, or protect the Service and its users, or
• when required by law, regulation, court order, or other valid legal process.

CastLink does not sell or license performer information to third parties for advertising, profiling, or generative-AI training.

8. Data Retention

CastLink does not maintain user accounts, personal user profiles, or a behavioral analytics history. Search input is processed to provide the requested result and is not maintained by CastLink as a user search-history database.

Limited technical information may be retained temporarily in standard hosting, security, caching, diagnostic, or API logs. Retention periods for information handled by third-party service providers may be governed by those providers' practices.

Messages sent directly to CastLink, such as support or privacy inquiries, may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain appropriate records, resolve disputes, or comply with law.

9. Children's Privacy

CastLink is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to CastLink, contact Support@CastLink.app so the issue can be reviewed.

10. Security

CastLink uses reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the nature and scale of the Service to protect information. No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

11. Your Choices and Requests

• You can stop using CastLink at any time.
• You can avoid sharing results by not using the share feature.
• You may contact CastLink to ask questions about personal information you have directly provided, such as a support message.
• Performers and authorized representatives may contact CastLink with reasonable concerns about performer information displayed through the Service.

Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional privacy rights. CastLink will respond to legally valid privacy requests as required.

12. Changes to This Policy

CastLink may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the version posted here together with a revised “Last Updated” date.
